Chapter 01
A patch is not a repair unless it disappears
Drywall texture is not one finish, it is a family of them, and matching the wrong one is how a ceiling repair announces itself for the next ten years. Orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel and smooth all catch light differently, so a patch cut into an existing wall has to be matched to what is already there before it goes to paint, not after.
We texture-match to the existing surface as a matter of course, not as an upgrade. A repair that reads as a repair from across the room has not actually fixed anything for the homeowner.

Flooring goes over a slab, and North Texas slabs move
Blackland clay expands and contracts with moisture more than almost any soil in the country, and a slab foundation built on it does not stay perfectly flat over the life of a house. Lay new flooring straight onto a slab with a low spot or a hairline crack telegraphing through, and the new floor inherits the problem within a season.
Before flooring goes down we check and level the substrate: patch and feather low spots, address moisture where the slab is testing high, and only then install. It is slower than laying material over whatever is there, and it is the only way the floor stays flat.
Chapter 03
Ventilation is the attic side of every roof we put on
A roof can be flashed and shingled perfectly and still cook the house from above if the attic underneath it cannot move air. Bad ventilation traps summer heat against the decking, shortens shingle life from the inside, and in winter lets warm moist air condense on cold roof sheathing, which is its own slow water problem with no storm to blame.
We check intake and exhaust ventilation as part of interior and roofing work alike, because it is the one system that touches both sides of the same house.
